Chick 9 Clothing was founded in 2008 by Krista Nygaard after she struggled to find sports baby clothes for girls.  Tired of buying blue and red baseball t-shirts for her friends' little girls, she decided to make her own clothing line.
Undeterred by her complete lack of knowledge of how to actually make clothing, she forged ahead with nothing but her ambition, a recently acquired MBA, the support of her parents, and a strong background in athletics.

The oldest child of two coaches, Krista was active in volleyball, tennis, track, soccer, gymnastics, and skiing in Bend, Oregon and later went on to play volleyball in college.  As a senior at the Colorado College, she wrote a thesis entitled, "How Participation in Sports Affects the Self-Esteem and Body-Image of High School Girls."  She also spent many years coaching high-school and club volleyball in Colorado and Oregon.

Krista's personal mission is to create sports-themed clothing for women and girls and to help promote a healthy body-image in all women through increased athletic participation.
